The Zags jumped over the Kansas Jayhawks, who some might say had the better case for the No. 1 seed. Although the Zags beat the Duke Blue Devils in a thrilling fashion during the Maui Invitational, the Jayhawks also knocked off the Tennessee Volunteers for their own signature win.

It is the third time in six seasons the Zags are No. 1 in the AP poll, and the second time in two years. The Zags last moved up to No. 1 in the Jan. 30, 2017 poll, with a gaudy 22-0 record.

Interestingly enough, the Duke Blue Devils still got some love, receiving one vote despite losing to Gonzaga on Wednesday. Apparently too much turkey can cause a loss of memory.

The Zags play North Dakota State tonight before heading out on the road to play Creighton on Saturday.
