It is actually kind of interesting that in three games last year, there were only four different point totals scored between the two teams.
Of course, last year and this year were two different Gonzaga teams, as opposed to Saint Mary’s, which is essentially returning the exact same ugly as trash squad to Spokane. Luckily, this first game is happening in Spokane so our egos can collectively inflate to the size of Washington, but let’s talk about some positive trends for Gonzaga.
After setting a WCC record by beating their opponents by an average 26.2 points, the Zags are currently demolishing their own mark. Gonzaga has outscored six WCC opponents by 31.2 points per game. Will they do that to Saint Mary’s? Probably not. But one can hope!
The Zags are defeating teams at home by an average of 30 points per game this season. They are outrebounding opponents by an average 14. The Zags have trailed conference opponents at home for just a combined three minutes and 48 seconds.
In other words, good luck Gaels.
