Let me tell you a little story.
I have a good friend who went to the University of Portland. He despises Gonzaga basketball, like any good WCC opponent should.
Over the years, we used to watch the Gonzaga and Portland games like good friends do. We would bet one beer on the spread. For years, at the end of every game, I got myself a free beer. Eventually, we determined that the bet needed to be handicapped a bit. The deal turned into one beer for me, one pitcher for him, and all Portland needed to do was beat the spread. I kept on getting beers.
Eventually, after determining over the course of time that the money was evening out, the bet turned into one pitcher for me, one keg for him. On Jan. 9, 2014, he finally won—after paying out 18 various drinks over the years.
That is hardly to say that Gonzaga is going to lose against Portland. Mark Few coached Gonzaga teams have dominated Portland like few other teams in the WCC. The Zags are 35-2 against Portland under coach Few. The have won eight-straight since that fateful night in 2014. Chances are, they are going to rattle off another 15 or so wins before that night happens again.
