I knew I was in love with the persona of Rem Bakamus the moment this happened.
Let’s be perfectly honest, Rem Bakamus was the bench mob before the bench mob even existed. When Monmouth was in diapers, Rem Bakamus was cheering his teammates on from the bench harder than any other player in college.
There isn’t much you can say about players like Rem from the blogging perspective. He was the end of the bench who would get loud cheers from the hometown friends simply for being the player at the end of the bench.
But Rem was more than that. He helped adopt Przemek Karnowski, and together, they became Shrek and Donkey. At many of the season’s funniest moments, Rem was at the forefront of it.
If you watched the HBO special March to Madness, there was an episode that focused on the team’s ability to bond, and naturally, they were at Rem’s house. Beyond that, his hard work and dedication as a member of the practice squad was instrumental to Gonzaga’s magical season.
He was well known for his social media antics, which was highlighted by not limited to straight up wrecking fools. My favorite, like a lot of other people’s, will always be the famed retort to a poor BYU soul who made the mistake of trying to talk trash to the wrong person (not to mention after a Cougar loss).
But I'll steal your girl https://t.co/snsDwUVMcD

Rem Bakamus is the perfect compliment for this memorable season. He will go down as one of the most well-known bench warmers in Gonzaga history, and in a year with a lot of famous faces on the squad, Rem got his fair share of airtime.
He is also taking donations.
Can't believe I'm no longer an NCAA athlete...
