The accolades keep flowing in for Nigel Williams-Goss. Fresh off of being named the WCC Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year, the Happy Valley native was named as a Top 10 Finalist for the Naismith Men’s College Player of the Year Award.

Along with Williams-Goss, the following players were also named as finalists:

2017 Naismith Player of the Year Award Top 10 Finalists

Name School Position Class Conference

Lonzo Ball UCLA G Freshman Pac12
Ethan Happ Wisconsin F/C R-Sophomore Big Ten
Josh Hart Villanova G Senior Big East
Justin Jackson UNC G/F Junior ACC
Josh Jackson Kansas F Freshman Big 12

Frank Mason III Kansas G Senior Big 12
Johnathan Motley Baylor F Junior Big 12
Caleb Swanigan Purdue F Sophomore Big Ten
Nigel Williams-Goss Gonzaga G R-Junior WCC

Williams-Goss definitely belongs in this group, as he’s helped pace Gonzaga to its best regular season in program history. He’s joined by some worthy contenders (though I would have replaced Josh Jackson with Malik Monk myself), but has earned the plaudits he is now receiving. Whether he’ll get to add to his trophy cabinet is something we’ll be keeping an eye on as the end of the season draws nearer.
