In the USF post-game interview, Coach Mark Few described Killian Tillie’s injury as “Killian broke his fourth finger right here at last night’s practice.”
The interview is on the left column of the Spokesman-Review’s Gonzaga Basketball site: http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2017/feb/16/instant-replay-nigel-williams-goss-torches-san-fra/
Since it’s an audio interview only with no pictures, I have no idea where’s the “right here” Coach Few is referring.
Without knowing more specifics, this could be good news considering the circumstances. Anyone who’s played basketball at any level knows broken and jammed fingers are part of the game. Often players with simple breaks use a splint or immobilizer to continue playing as the injury heals.
Let’s hope this is the case for Tillie and no surgery is required. Even if the injury affects his shooting, his defense, rebounding and the energy he brings when he enters a game are still valuable assets to the team.
