For the first time in history, Villanova and Gonzaga will play each other, and what better location for such a huge game than Madison Square Garden. It’ll be a matchup between two of the most winningest programs. Since the 2014-15 season, Villanova leads all teams in college with 108 wins, and Gonzaga comes in second with 107.
Tonight’s game will be the toughest test for the Gonzaga Bulldogs on their entire schedule. Villanova is ranked as the top team in the nation by Ken Pomeroy, with the second-best offense and the sixth-best defense. The game will also be a tough test for Villanova. The Wildcats haven’t played a ranked opponent yet this season.
The Zags have had some success in MSG, winning three games in the big arena. However, this will probably be a road crowd. Although the Zags travel well, Villanova’s campus is quite a bit closer to NYC than Spokane.
