It is the beginning of a long haul for Texas Southern, who are racking up an insane amount of miles this non-conference. For the Zags, it will be the first of a few tune up games before the PK80 Invitational over the holiday break.
Texas Southern isn’t your typical trash team by any stretch. The Tigers made the NCAA Tournament last season after going through their conference with a 16-2 record. They lost to UGH the eventual NCAA champions North Carolina, 103-64, in the first round.
This is the third meeting between the two schools. The Zags have predictably won both of the previous two contests, the latest one being in the 2014-15 season. Silas Melson is the only player from that team that is still on the squad today (technically Josh Perkins too but he was sidelined with a broken jaw).
