Junior Gonzaga guard Nigel Williams-Goss was named one of 10 finalists for the Bob Cousy Award on Monday. The award goes out annually to the top point guard in college hoops.

There is some tough competition in the ranks, but few players have helped propel their squad like Williams-Goss. He leads the Zags in points scored (14.8), assists (4.9), steals (1.6), and is the second best rebounder (5.6). Williams-Goss is shooting 49.4 percent from the floor and 36.6 percent from long range.

It is still elite company that he joins, and it will always be an uphill battle for success, especially considering the balance of Gonzaga’s squad this year. Williams-Goss has taken over games, highlighted by 36 points against San Francisco, but Gonzaga has enough players that Williams-Goss is hardly the best player on the court each night.

Here is the complete list of Bob Cousy finalists:

  • Nigel Williams-Goss, Gonzaga
  • Monte Morris, Iowa State
  • Frank Mason, Kansas
  • De’Aaron Fox, Kentucky
  • Melo Trimble, Maryland
  • Joel Berry II, North Carolina
  • Dennis Smith, North Carolina State
  • Lonzo Ball, UCLA
  • Jalen Brunson, Villanova
  • Markelle Fultz, Washington
