Unbeaten, But for How Long?

War Memorial Looms Large In the Week Ahead

NCAA Basketball: Gonzaga at Pacific Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

You can hear it going around. It permeates your everyday life. First it’s a cough. Then a sniffle. Finally a sneeze. And before you know it, the flu is settled down upon you. Sinuses become congested. Eyes become heavy. Breathing becomes labored. Voices become Cashian.

But, dear FIBbers, our heroes will not be so easily brushed aside. Nay, the true captains of any team find a way to power through. To dig down into the depths of their souls to lead, to inspire.

Such is the way of things on the latest episode of Free Ira Brown. Despite sounding like he was on his last legs, ready for his final sign off, our indefatigable (well…moderately fatigable) captain, Adam Besagno somehow, someway finds it within himself to pilot us to yet another episode of podcasting glory.

Well, OK, sure, what Gonzaga did in beating Pepperdine and Pacific by a combined 50 points while battling a team-wide flu outbreak may seem more impressive, but…um…actually, it is much more impressive, you’re right. Huge Piece passing his way to glory? Williams being an efficiency machine? Mathews finding his stroke? All much more impressive and delved into in great detail.

Those stories, plus we have a very special pod-long guest, a member of Gonzaga Basketball’s royal family, if you will. We spend some time with a certain regional(!) announcer and then take a look at this week’s upcoming games, including a trip to Chris’ least-favorite WCC arena.

And finally, we finish up with a Top 3 that hopefully sheds some positive light on 2016.

All this and more on the latest episode of Free Ira Brown, THE Gonzaga Hoops Podcast. Do make Adam’s suffering worth it, won’t you?
