The Gonzaga Bulldogs rose to No. 5 in the latest AP top 25 after some early conference losses sent a few top 10 teams tumbling.
The Zags took care of business against both Pacific and Pepperdine last week to open up WCC play 2-0. Unfortunately, for the rest of the teams in the top 25, they don’t play as easy of competition and were punished for their losses.
Duke lost by 14 points to Virginia Tech to tumble down to No. 8, and Louisville lost to Virginia, 61-53, to drop down to No. 9. Louisville followed that loss up with a win over Indiana, but the AP voters had apparently seen enough.
Elsewhere in the top five, Villanova remained the No. 1 team in the nation. Baylor rose to No. 2, Kansas to No. 3, and UCLA fell down to No. 4. Gonzaga is now sitting pretty at No. 5 rounding the whole thing out.
