Nigel Williams-Goss was named to the John R. Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 on Wednesday evening. The annual award goes to the top player in college basketball.
Williams-Goss leads Gonzaga in a multitude of categories. He is the team’s top scorer (15.3 points per game), top rebounder (6.1 rebounds per game), top passer (4.8 assists per game) and most aggressive on defense (1.7 steals per game).
This complete package affair came to fruition against San Francisco, where he became just the fifth player in the past 20 years to stuff a box score with at least 35 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists, all while shooting 80 percent or better from the floor.
The Wooden Award list will be trimmed to 20 players in early February. The 10-man Wooden Award All-American Team will be announced the week of the Elite EIght, while the final award will be handed out on April 7.
