The Gonzaga men’s soccer team is ranked No. 20 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of American Divsion I Poll. This is the first time the Zags have been ranked in the poll since 2007.
Gonzaga is off to a great start with a 5-0-1 record and are one of the 11 unbeaten teams in the top-20. They have two wins over ranked teams with victories against then No. 16 Seattle University and then No. 20 American.
The Zags were last ranked in 2007, which coincidentally is also the last time the men’s squad made the NCAA Tournament. They have an immediate opportunity to rise higher in the ranks as they face off against No. 19 Utah Valley on Thursday.
The Bulldogs are led by Jakob Franlund and Denis Kalamar with two goals apiece. Colton Cavey, Granlund, Ben White, and Austin Giftopoulos all lead the team with two assists each.
The Zags are the only unbeaten team left in the WCC.
