The Zags will face off against Arizona State on Sunday, at noon, in hopes of staving off elimination in the NCAA Tournament.
The first regional portion of the tournament is a double-elimination challenge. After their loss yesterday, Oral Roberts has now been removed from play. The winner of today's game between Gonzaga and Arizona State will advance to play TCU tomorrow.
The Zags fell to TCU on Saturday as the offense struggled to get much going against the Horned Frogs. The Zags held a 3-2 lead heading into the seventh inning after a Jeffrery Bohling home run, but weren’t able to add any more runs. TCU fought back with a couple runs in the top of the 8th to win the game 4-3.
Gonzaga has one more chance to keep their playoff hopes alive. They got to Arizona State early in their first NCAA Tournament win of the year, and they will need another strong pitching performance to secure another win and attempt to advance.
