The Gonzaga baseball team continues their march in the NCAA Tournament as they take on TCU in Fort Worth, Texas, on Saturday.
Gonzaga got off to a surprising start, upsetting Arizona State, 5-1, on Friday. The Zags rode the strong arm of Brandon Bailey, who threw seven innings of one run ball.
The Zags got off to an early start, with Taylor Jones, Jeff Bohling, and Nick Brooks all snaring two hits a piece. Gonzaga scored all five of its runs in the first three innings of the game. It was their first win over Arizona State since 2006.
Gonzaga will now face TCU, which easily upended Oral Roberts, 7-0, on Friday. TCU starting pitcher Mitchell Traver tossed five innings of two hit ball, and the Horned Frogs put on six runs late into the game to take home a convincing win.
One more win, and the Zags advance to the next regional. If Gonzaga loses today, they will play the winner of Arizona State/Oral Roberts on Sunday.
