The Gonzaga Bulldogs are making their first NCAA Regionals appearance for the first time since 2009 as they face off against the No. 2 Arizona State Sun Devils in Fort Worth, Texas.
The Zags are road warriors, and that is part of what helped them get an at-large bid into the NCAA baseball tournament. Gonzaga played 40 of their final 50 games away from Spokane, with 36 of those true road games. They finished the season with 23 total road wins, tied with Wright State for second-most in the nation.
Junior pitcher Brandon Bailey will take the mound for the Zags against Arizona State. Bailey finished the regular season with a 9-3 record and a 2.51 ERA.
The Zags are going to have to continue their hot hitting ways if they want to advance later into the tournament. Gonzaga is hitting a slash line of .290/.379/.422. Their .422 slugging percentage is the best mark since that last 2009 tournament team.
