This just coming hot off the heels of me wondering who I would like added to the non-conference slate. Cal is a great team, however, so although it wasn't one of my picks, I can't be too upset.
Cal has been in the NCAA Tournament in five of the last ten years, and the years they haven't made it in, they have still been a solid team. The Golden Bears will be the third Pac-12 opponent Gonzaga will play next season, alongside Washington and Arizona.
Overall, this is a good addition to the non-conference slate. Cal plays in a power conference and gives Gonzaga a solid opponent at home, especially considering that so far two of the other big non-conference opponents in Arizona and Tennessee are happening on neutral and road "neutral" courts, respectively.
