Ryan Edwards injury: Big man is going to miss the WCC Tournament championship game

The Gonzaga big man will most likely miss the tournament game with a knee injury.

Gonzaga Bulldogs backup center Ryan Edwards will most likely miss the WCC Tournament championship game against Saint Mary's on Tuesday, according to Jim Meehan of the Spokesman Review.

This isn't exactly surprising news. Edwards injured his knee against Portland on Saturday and was seen in Las Vegas by the masses on crutches. Generally speaking, when you carry as much weight as the seven-footer does, those leg injuries don't feel too good.

This means we will see more of what we saw from Gonzaga last night. When either Kyle WIltjer or Domantas Sabonis need a break from the floor, the Zags will slot to a four-guard lineup with Kyle Dranginis at the four spot. It isn't ideal, but it worked against BYU last night.

The other huge issue, obviously, is that this setback to Edwards absolutely means that both Wiltjer and Sabonis need to stay out of foul trouble. This hasn't been much of an issue for Wiltjer, but we know Sabonis can get a bit hot at times. Gonzaga's bench is non-existent at this point. Both Wiltjer and Sabonis logged long and rough minutes last night, but they will have to dig deep because there are few options to bail them out if things go awry.
