Another week, another top team in the country. This time around, according to the voters, Villanova is the winner.
It is a fitting round robin up top, with six teams garnering first place votes in the AP Poll. This has been one of the more wild college basketball seasons in memory, and it definitely seems like there is no clear cut best team in the nation.
On the Gonzaga end of the polls (outside the top 25), the Zags are now garnering votes in the AP poll--ten of them in fact! The Zags are doing much better in the coaches poll, effectively ranked No. 27 and higher than Duke! Most importantly, Gonzaga is rated higher than Saint Mary's in both polls. At least that portion of the world has returned to normalcy.
The Zags have a big chance to make a statement with a win over SMU this Saturday. But first up, they will have to push through the Portland Pilots.
