The last time the Washington Huskies stepped foot into Spokane, your average underclassmen hadn’t even started high school yet.
The rivalry streak was re-engaged last season, but that was just a tune-up for the Battle 4 Atlantis. Finally, this season, the home and home with the Washington Huskies and Gonzaga Bulldogs will begin, and everything is back to being right in the world.
The Huskies of course are led by uber-freshman Markelle Fultz, who will be one of the best, if not the best, individual player Gonzaga will face all season. The rest of the Huskies aren’t quite up to par with Fultz quite yet, and after consecutive losses to TCU (one in a tournament, one on the actual schedule), the Huskies come limping into Spokane to try and regroup.
Sometimes, scheduling sucks. And that is all that can be said for Lorenzo Romar and company. Trying to figure out what is going wrong isn’t going to be easy for Washington in Spokane, but I for once am glad they are giving it a shot.
This is the rivalry game we have waited nearly a decade for, lets enjoy it.
