College basketball rankings: Gonzaga stays at No. 7

There was a bit of movement in the top 10, but not too much.

NCAA Basketball: South Dakota at Gonzaga James Snook-USA TODAY Sports

The Gonzaga Bulldogs stayed at No. 7 in the latest AP poll rankings after most of the teams took a slight break during the holiday season.

Villanova maintained its stranglehold on No. 1, UCLA, Kansas, Baylor and Duke all rounded out the top five. Of course, the big news in the top 10 was the leap by Louisville after a big win over Kentucky. The Cardinals hopped up over the Zags, and there aren’t any problems with that.

Across the board for the Zags, both Arizona and Saint Mary’s stayed at No. 18 and No. 19, respectively. Also, some other exciting news: the Florida Gators hopped into the top 25. As it stands right now, the Zags own two wins over top 25 teams. Don’t anyone tell this guy though.
