Josh Perkins continued his hot streak from long range, hitting five threes to the tune of 15 points as the Zags ran away from Mississippi Valley State yesterday, 97-63.
We also got a nice glimpse of Rui Hachimura for the first time basically. The freshman played 13 minutes, hitting 5-of-8 from the floor for 10 points. He also grabbed nine rebounds in his short stint. The bench added 46 points for Gonzaga, who led by as much as 40 at one point.
It wasn’t all bright spots. The Zags still turned the ball over 13 times. But they offset some of that damage with 23 assists off of 36 field goals. Five players scored in double figures, and the Zags got a nice offensive boost from Silas Melson.
Up next for the Zags: a trip to Los Angeles to face the vaunted Arizona Wildcats.
