After playing seemingly a ton of non-conference games over the past couple of weeks, the Gonzaga Bulldogs are easing into Winter Break with a game against the Akron Zips.
It won’t necessarily be easy, mind you. The Zips are a great offensive team and have enough firepower to give the Zags fits for more than a few minutes. The Zips and the Zags have met once before: in the 2009 NCAA Tournament, with Gonzaga coming out on top.
More importantly, if the Zags win tonight, it will be the first time since joining the NCAA that the school has started a season 10-0, which is a rather surprising fact for some reason. Playing at home is exactly what the doctor ordered for that feat. The Zags have won in Spokane by an average of 29 points this season, with the closest margin of victory being winning by 21 over San Diego State.
