We finally made it y’all! The Gonzaga Bulldogs take on the Utah Valley Wolverines in the first regular season game of the 2016-17 season.
The Zags have won 12-straight season openers, with the last loss coming way back in 2003 vs. Saint Joseph’s, in New York City, at the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. You have to go even farther back to find out the last time the Zags lost at home to open the season—all the way back to 1988 to Boise State. That is 27 consecutive wins at home to open the season, leaving the McCarthy Athletic Center a perfect 12-for-12.
As a quick reminder: Gonzaga guard Josh Perkins will not be playing in this game as he serves his suspension. He will be available against San Diego State. Also, another quick reminder: the staff will redshirt someone, and playing in the exhibition game has no effect on eligibility for that.
Otherwise, sit back, crack a beer, and enjoy the best Friday night entertainment around. Go Zags!
