Mark Few is no stranger to tough non-conference schedules, and this year is no different
The days of traveling anywhere and everywhere to play each opponent are luckily over -- but the Zags will still log quite a few miles on the road. Gonzaga opens up its schedule with a game against Pittsburgh in Okinawa, Japan as part of the annual Armed Forces Classic.
A month later, the Bulldogs are off to the Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas, which jumpstarts the rivalry with Washington a year early. That field also potential opponents in Texas A&M, Texas, Michigan and Connecticut, among others.
Then there is the big grudge match game against Arizona in Spokane. Gonzaga narrowly lost to Arizona in Tuscon last year and has a chance for a shot at retribution in front of the Kennel Club. Arizona is one of four Pac-12 teams the Zags will face.
Here is the non-conference schedule:
Nov. 13 | vs. Pittsburgh (Japan) |
Nov. 18 | vs. Northern Arizona |
Nov. 21 | vs. Mount St. Mary's |
Nov. 25-27 | Battle 4 Atlantis |
Dec. 2 | @ Washington State |
Dec. 5 | vs. Arizona |
Dec. 8 | vs. Montana |
Dec. 12 | vs. UCLA |
Dec. 14 | vs. St Martin's |
Dec. 19 | vs. Tennessee (Battle in Seattle) |
Feb. 13 | @ SMU |
All in all, it looks like a stellar schedule. College basketball can't get here soon enough.
