Thank goodness it is back! The NCAA Tournament returns to your living room with four Sweet Sixteen games tonight. The Midwest and West regions are featured this evening as two No. 1 seeds will headline the action as Wisconsin takes on North Carolina and Kentucky takes on West Virginia. All four are very intriguing matchups in their own regard. Here they are:
Matchup | Time (PT) | Channel |
Midwest: No. 7 Wichita State vs. No. 3 Notre Dame | 4:15pm | CBS |
West: No. 4 North Carolina vs. No. 1 Wisconsin | 4:47pm | TBS |
Midwest: No. 5 West Virginia vs. No. 1 Kentucky | 6:45pm | CBS |
West: No. 6 Xavier vs. No. 2 Arizona | 7:17pm | TBS |
For me, the game of the night will be Notre Dame vs. Wichita State. I know most folks will look at the Kentucky vs. West Virginia game as the premier matchup but I think the most closely contested game will be the Fighting Irish and the Shockers. It is abundantly clear that Wichita State is far better than their No. 7 seed shows. The Shockers are allowing just 56ppg this season and Notre Dame is scoring 79 per game so this is the classic "something has to give" situation. Look for this to be a very physical and emotional game as both teams like to play with a chip on its shoulder. I give the slight edge to Wichita State but wouldn't be surprised either way.
Not by a TV? You can stream all the action here.
My picks:
Wichita State 71 / Notre Dame 69
North Carolina 58 / Wisconsin 69
West Virginia 65 / Kentucky 79
Xaveir 62 / Arizona 74
Boring, I know...but Wisconsin, Kentucky, and Arizona are damn good. What say you?
