The moment none of us were waiting for, but also all expected to happen is finally here. Following their loss to Arizona on Saturday, Gonzaga took a big hit in both the AP and coaches polls, released on Monday.
Gonzaga dropped down to No. 20 in the AP poll and No. 17 in the coaches poll.
Although we all will argue that the polls are absolutely meaningless, they are general indicators of how well a team is performing. The Zags, after the loss to Arizona, have some clear issues to work through and are definitely not a top 15 team. A top 20 team? We will need a win against UCLA on Saturday to really validate that point.
Also, despite the overall poor play of the WCC, the coaches and AP voters are taking more note of Saint Mary's, who continues to slowly but surely climb up the ranks.
Here is the coaches poll.
