Your Guide To A Completely Jam-Packed College Basketball Saturday

Mid-major conference tournaments, bubble madness, and top-25 matchups highlight a big Saturday in college basketball...

Casey Sapio-USA TODAY Sports

While most folks won't acknowledge the beginning of March Madness until Selection Sunday on the 16th, there is no doubt in my mind that we are already well underway.  Case in point...this is March Madness:

That shot from Andre Smith yesterday is just the tip of the iceberg that is March Madness as I'm sure we will have several more highlight reel clips to share tomorrow after today's exciting slate comes to a conclusion.  The full schedule can be found at the bottom of this post but let's take a look at a few things that we are watching..

What To Watch For

Our Jerome Results - GO BELMONT!

The reason why I love the above clip so much? Well, The Jerome.  For the past couple seasons, we have participated in a wonderful contest among other bloggers and writers known as "The Jerome" in which we are tasked with picking the winner of every conference tournament.  Points are assigned based on winning the tournament with numerous kickers for picking the 'upset team' to make a run through and win it all.  With that said, here are our picks.  We would appreciate your full support in rooting these guys on as hard as possible.

Conference Selection
Ohio Valley Belmont
Big South Winthrop
Atlantic Sun Mercer
Missouri Valley Wichita State
Southern Davidson
Colonial Athletic Towson
Metro Atlantic Athletic Iona
West Coast Gonzaga
Summit North Dakota State
Horizon Green Bay
Northeast Wagner
Patriot Boston University
America East Stony Brook

Big Day For The Bubbles

Most notably Oregon, Providence, and Georgetown.  All three of these teams are going up against Top-15 programs but the Oregon game against Arizona is the most intriguing.  The Ducks were utterly abysmal at the start of conference play but have rattled off six straight wins to get back into NCAA Tournament discussion.  Also, keep a close eye on the Oklahoma State - Iowa State game.  The Cowboys are likely on the plus side of the bubble but they could use a big road win against a top-20 team like Iowa State

The OVC Championship And Conference Tournament Semifinals

Eastern Kentucky knocked off perennial power Murray State last night in a wildly entertaining contest and now square off with the 24-8 Bruins from Belmont.  The two teams split the regular season schedule so the rubber match should be a blast to watch.  Belmont, our Jerome pick, absolutely drubbed Morehead State in the semifinals as they drained 11 three-point shots.  The Big South, Missouri Valley, Patriot, and Horizon leagues are also contesting semifinal matchups today.
