There was a bit of movement in the top 10 of the both polls, but none of it involved the Gonzaga Bulldogs. Despite the close loss to Arizona, the Bulldogs held strong at No. 8 in the USA Today's coaches poll and No. 9 in the AP poll for consecutive weeks.
Gonzaga lost a close on in overtime to Arizona on Saturday, and the common consensus is generally after a loss there is a slight dip in the rankings. There were enough losses in the top 10 to send teams tumbling this way and that. Texas dropped a couple of spots (albeit barely) below Gonzaga after a 12-point loss to the top-ranked Kentucky Wildcats. Villanova, in response, leapfrogged Gonzaga to claim the No. 7 spot.
For the fifth straight week, the Wildcats held down the top spot in the rankings. Duke and Arizona came in to round out the top three, with each team receiving one first-place vote.
