Gonzaga vs. Pepperdine 2014 game recap: Apparently we won

This is really just a place holder for ya'll.

Andrew Fielding-USA TODAY Sports

Sorry for the lack of posts this morning. Looks like neither of us watched the game, but I do believe in a healthy dialogue so we can use this as the post HQ for talking about last night's game.

Here are my dumb box score observations, tell me if I am right or wrong.

  • Sam Dower had that sort of Sam Dower night that makes us all realize we have the best forward no one knows of
  • Kyle Dranginis is settling into the Mike Hart role. He finished with five points, eight rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block. He also took six shots in the process, way more than Hart ever felt comfortable. Agree/disagree?
  • Some more interesting lineup numbers, especially with minutes played. A lot of comments I saw said that the 17 point win was actually a lot closer - which would reflect in the box score. Few basically ran out a 6.5 man rotation (half a point for Ryan Edwards!).

Interesting bit on that last point, the game was tight for the first seven minutes - after that Gonzaga went nuts. So nuts in fact, that the lead game was decided with seven minutes left to play.

This leaves me wondering, a lot, why Few seems to distrust so many of the players. I'm going to refrain from being overtly critical because I didn't see the game and you can only read so much into the stats. But, for me, one of the this season's more confounding issues has been Few's rotation, and reading through the comments of the game thread, I wasn't the only one.

Am I wrong on any of this? Am I right on any of this? Let's celebrate Friday and the start of a new win streak gang!
