GAMEDAY! Gonzaga v. Northwest Nazarene Open Thread

Share your thoughts as the Zags welcome the Crusaders for this exhibition matchup...

Charles Leclaire-US PRESSWIRE

Last weekend, we got a small sampling of the 2012-13 season and today, we finally get to see the Zags take on some foreign opposition. While the true season opener doesn't happen until November 9th against Southern Utah, today's exhibition matchup against the Crusaders of Northwest Nazarene is the start of the 2012-13 journey. It has been several years since a season was greeted with as much anticipation as this one.

The Zags will trot out as much talent as we have seen since the team that featured Pargo, Downs, Bouldin, and Heytvelt. There is a sense that Gonzaga's backcourt could be as special as any other in Bulldog history. Kevin Pangos and Gary Bell are the compete package. Pangos is a spark plug and a pure point guard. Gary Bell is an assassin that has all the tools in the world and will be Mark Few's lock down defender this year. Joining Pangos and Bell is Guy Landry Edi who from all accounts, finally looks comfortable in Few's offense and is ready to shine. Double double machine Elias Harris is joined by Sam Dower, Przemek Karnowski, and Kelly Olynyk to make up a very skilled front court.

This team isn't without holes but the potential is there and today we expect to see a glimpse of that potential and then hopefully a whole lot of Rem Bakamus, Mike Hart, and the rest of the bench as this game should be over within the first 3-5 minutes.
