The regular season series Gonzaga was able to agree on with Wake Forest was huge for the Bulldogs because it signified a high-major program coming to the Kennel. If you've been around the program at all, you know that rarely happens. Wake traveled to Spokane last season and although the result was unfavorable, it was a well-played game and I'm sure it was a great moment for everyone in attendance to see a big time ACC team in K2. In return, the Zags will travel to Winston-Salem, NC this season to take on the Demon Deacons and new head coach Jeff Bzdelik and, according to Fox Sports' Jeff Goodman, that game will take place on the 2nd of January.
That date is quite a bit later than we expected (GU played Wake in early December last season) as it had been rumored the two teams might face off as early as November. To put it into perspective, this will probably be the last or second to last non-conference game between GU takes on the WCC slate. My thought now is that Gonzaga/Xavier might be the last game before conference play in Spokane kind of taking the spot of the OU game last season. We will see as more details come out. As always, here is the up-to-date look at the Zags' schedule.
