Cross another one off the list: LaBradford Franklin commits to San Diego State

LaBradford Franklin will take his near 18 point average to San Diego State next season.
LaBradford Franklin will take his near 18 point average to San Diego State next season.

We've been able to confirm that LaBradford Franklin, one of the top remaining point guards in the country, has committed to San Diego State.  Franklin, the 6'3'' point guard who currently attends Great Oak High School in Temecula, held offers from a number of division one programs including Gonzaga.

Great Oak is currently 11-9 on the year but when you consider that Franklin is their tallest starter, it's pretty clear they are at a slight disadvantage.  He's averaging about 18 points on the season and is rated as a three star guard by Rivals and a 91 by ESPN.

Franklin went down to watch San Diego State take on BYU recently and was obviously impressed enough to commit after that.  The Aztecs have always seemingly been the leader for his services but we were hoping to get LB on a visit to Spokane.  San Diego State is turning into a perennial contender for the Mountain West crown and Franklin will strenghten this team's backcourt and provide an immediate scoring threat.  We wish him nothing but the best.

As for Gonzaga, the list is further shortened.  Brandon Dunson, the junior college guard from Wabash Valley is hearing from the Zags and we think Kendall Williams and Jordin Mayes are on the radar but we shall see.  It is still entirely possible that Mark Few will skip the entire 2010 class but, with so many good scoring guards available, I'd love to see him throw one out there and get a player in the Spring period.
