After Wake loss, Gonzaga ranked 21st in AP, 22nd in Coaches Poll

The now two loss Gonzaga Bulldogs were expecting to drop in the newest edition of the polls and I think that 21/22 is a pretty respectable spot for the Zags considering the home loss.  With Augustana and Davidson coming up this week, I think it is safe to say that we are all expecting a couple wins to make up for the Demon Deacons upset victory.  Davidson is 2-6 on the season and Augustana is a division three basketball team.

With a win against Wake Forest, it is very possible that Gonzaga could have climbed up into the top ten by the time Duke @ MSG rolled around.  Assuming the Zags take care of business this week, the game will still have a great deal of luster as two of the longest tenured coaches will be battling in the big apple.

Four teams from the Maui Invitational are ranked in at least one poll as Cincinnati, Wisconsin, Vanderbilt, and of course the Zags have had nice starts to the year.  Portland, who worked their way in to the top 25 last week had a miserable seven days and is now not only out of the rankings, but not receiving a vote in either poll.  For their nice start to the season, St. Mary's has been rewarded with six votes in the Coaches Poll but nothing in the AP.

Aside from Duke, who is now ranked 8th in both polls, no other future Gonzaga opponent is ranked.  Illinois and Memphis are both receiving votes but Oklahoma did get a nice win yesterday over Arizona so hopefully they are getting it together before our New Year's Eve date with the Sooners.
