I think it's safe to say that the Zags will get a number one seed. I feel this is the best season as well as the best team in GU history. They have in my mind answered the bell all but one time this season. I don't count the Butler game. That loss was wasn't because they didn't step up, it was because the had a miscommunication at the end. But a loss is a loss. I know that the WCC doesn't blow up anyone's skirt, but this team went out and played a great non conference schedule. What this team has done, no team in GU history has been able to do. They have been the consistent team ever. I know that I'm in the minority on this, but the tournament shouldn't dictate the success of your season. There are too many variables that go into making a deep run in the big dance. Seeding, injury, refereeing, and match ups are just a few. It has been debated by many of you guys that the 2006 team with Morrison,Batista, and Pargo might be the best team in GU history. But they didn't make it as far as the 1999 team. Let's take a different direction. If this team played the 1999 team, I believe this team would would win hands down. This team is just too deep. I want and I think they will make a deep run this year, but I think there is too much made about a tournament at the end of the season. Over the past few years I can only think of two teams that were hands down the best team in the nation and won it all. North Carolina in 2009 and Kentucky last year. Was Butler the 2nd best team in the nation when they lost to Duke and UCONN in the title game? Not in my mind. They just happened to get hot at the right time. I guess what I'm trying to say in my long winded rant. I believe this is the best team in GU history and this is the best season to date. Let's get ready to make some noise! GO ZAGS!!!
