1999 Gonzaga v. Florida Game

Anybody watch this replay over the weekend? What an awesome game. I was getting nervous and obviously knew the outcome. Those guys were the start of the amazing success the program enjoys today - not to mention they were a FUN, FUN team to watch. A few things stood out to me and some of them, in my opinion, how far Gonzaga has come as a program: 1. Florida was only a 6 seed and Zag fans were stoked that we won. Now days, we expect to knock of a 6 seed and we're usually seeded higher than the opponent. 2. Florida was starting/playing a lot a number of Freshman. I think Haslem was a freshman, Mike Miller was too. 3. Frahm, Q. Hall and Calvary won that game. Santangelo's impact was minimized, though he was also a stud. 4. They controlled the game in a way that I haven't seen since last year's team. NO PANIC at all. Down 1 with 20 seconds left - no sweat. 5. They were deep with multiple scoring threats. Calvary, Dench, Eaton, Santangelo, Hall, Frahm, Q. Hall, etc. 6. They were athletic and played loose - all of them. 7. They played with a chip on their shoulder. 4-7 are the things our best teams are known for and what make Gonzaga basketball so fun..
