The season is upon us and this Zags fan could be more excited! This year brings a great deal of hope and optimism. I believe there are three keys to any successful college basketball team. Guard play, defence, and rebounding. I think the Zags possess all of those key traits. Pangos and Bell are just flat out studs. With a year under their belts, they should be one of the best guard combo's out west if not the country. I would love to see the bench a little stronger when it comes to the guards. Up top the Zags have some very good on ball defenders. Gary Bell was GU's most consistent and best on ball defender. The kid has the knack of keep his guy in front of him. Guy Landry Edi and Mike hart aren't too behind Bell for that honor. Elias Harris showed that when challenged, the guy can D up. The big question is how well can the Zags defend the post. Big Sam Dower is going to have show people and most importantly scouts that he is more than a scorer off the bench. This is a big year for Dower. This could set the tone for season and his career at Gonzaga. I'm very interested to see if a year off has made a big of impact on Kelly Olynky as has been talked about. I also hope is going to be available to play. I have yet to hear anything on his status. Karnowski is a kid I am looking forward to seeing progress throughout the season. With Karnowski at 7'1, Olynky 7'0 and Dower 6'9, the Zags a lot of height protecting the rim. With the influx of height this year I believe that the Zags will be be better than last year on the boards. They were 55th last year in rebounding out of 344 schools. I could go on and on, but it's three in the morning and I can't sleep. All I can say is that I'm very hopeful for this season and I'm glad the season is about to start! I'm going to bed! GO ZAGS!
