Khem Birch World Tour

Khem Birch had a visit yesterday ( Jan 3 ) at Florida. Im sure he went to the game, Florida beat UAB 79-61. Today he went to visit New Mexico St. ( Jan 4 ) Next up is UNLV and if i had to guess that will take place on Friday ( Jan 6 ) Because UNLV plays at Cal St Bakersfield Thursday (Jan 5 )

So could we see Khem Birch in Spokane for the GU vs Santa Clara game on Saturday? I really think we may have a Birch sighting on Sat. He would then move on to his 5th team on his list. Oregon St will be his final visit. He said he plans to make a choice next week so he can enroll to his new school, so we wont have to wait long to find out where he lands. I think he would be a great add to the team IF we get him. But we will be fine if not. I still hold out hopes for the kid from Poland and from what i hear we will be the likely landing spot for him.

Don't hold your breath.

Feels like the makings of another Wiltjer sweepstakes, there is no reward for second place. Well, unless being thrust onto the “national consciousness” is a reward.

I could get very, very, very…did I mention VERY? excited if he were to commit here. I just don’t want to go through the pain, lol, of another looky lou who decides we aint good enough to start off the new year.

Not too many of those though, eh?

Wiltjer could have been The Man here. But, he gets to sit the bench {for the most part so far} at Kentucky. People say that he’ll get his chance, but Calipari will probably recruit over him and Wiltjer may end up being nothing more than a tackling dummy. haha

How long will it take for him to understand that he really belongs in Zag red, white, & blue?

Wiltjer

Wiltjer would not take ANY minutes from Dower or Harris. So i think Wiltjer would be on the Bench here too.

You are probably right

Dower is just scary good on offense. Still has a way to go on the defensive end but that will come.

Wiltjer probably made the right move for himself — I don’t see him beating out Dower this year or in the future. I guess he could’a played some 3 if his D was good enough but he doesn’t look to have the lateral quickness to do that.

Let’s face it. If you want to start at GU right away, you had better be pretty good. This team is pretty solid right now and just looks to get better for the foreseeable future. That and these guys are probably here for the full four years.

At least at Kentucky, you can hope for a one and done to move on and open a spot for you.

Birch

I wont get the hopes too high.

Hes making his decision next week, and has a list of visits and no Gonzaga date yet, kinda makes me wonder…

Also Pepperdine is tomorrow, Santa Clara on saturday

Hopefully Khem makes it on to campus then I will be more excited about our chances od landing him

Also

New Mexico State has 5 canadiens on there roster including his buddy Sim Bhullar, so who knows how that plays out, obviously is appealing enough for him to visit New mexico.

The good news is

We will know soon enough. I have Pepperdine on the brain because of the game tomorrow. My bad. I really dont see Khem picking Gonzaga because we have a loaded team and he might wanna try one of the lower scale schools, Florida, UNLV, New Mexico St or Oregon St. I have no doubt we would beat any of those teams. Plus i will say it now……..Gonzaga will only lose 1 more game before March Madness. Hello Portland 1st round March Madness.

Go Zags !!!!

I like the confidence, but....

While I will agree with you about beating New Mexico St. and Oregon St., the other two I can’t. Florida’s guards are said to be a nightmare matchup (that’s what I’ve heard, but I’d still be cheering hard for the Zags), and UNLV’s style can be very disruptive.

I cannot see Khem picking GU

he wants to go somewhere that he will start and get the minutes he wants immediately, and the possibility of Elias returning is going to keep him from committing to us. I’m surprised he’s even visiting.

I'm not sure he knows what he wants

If PT is the only criteria, OSU is probably the best place for him.

However, even if E stays one more year, Khem would be in the cat-bird-seat for the following two years (If he’s really that good). Tell the truth people, if he wants national exposure, Florida and GU are the only two places that should be on his list.

IF he would redshirt, next year wouldn’t he get three years at GU? — and no E on the roster.

I don’t think any of us knows enough to do more than speculate here. Face it, he’s a kid and he’s dealing with issues he’s never had to deal with before. Gotta be hard.

Yes 3 years

But the reason he wants to enroll before Jan 25 ( i think that is the date ) is so he can play the 2nd half of next year. So 2 1/2 years. But i think he will only want to play 1 1/2 years and try NBA. So the team that gets him should know that is his desire. But then again that is every players desire to go to the NBA.

And i just read he is going to visit

UNLV on Friday. so we will see if he wants to continue his tour to the Northwest. To be honest i think Gonzaga is a great fit for him if he wants to be a team guy. And understand that this team is not about 1-5 players it is about an entire team. That is what is so great about this team.

Good things come to those who wait.

Never jump on the first deal. There is nothing to lose by checking every place out before you pop.

It takes away the chance at a wrongful emotional decision, and, he does not have the luxury of making a wrong decision at this point.

Sooo, what I am saying is… just come here last and then jump in with both feet!! lol

Good Point Gaz

He really should see ALL 5 schools first. I heard Pitt is saying that Mizzu has tampered with Khem and wont give him release if he goes there. I know Mizzu is not on the list but i did read that tonight.

Go Zags !!!!

Not Likely

This is very likely to be a 2 team race between Florida and UNLV, from most accounts he is likely to end up where Anthony Bennett ends up, and Florida and UNLV are on the top of Bennetts list too…I dont even think he is seriously considering the Zags, but we will see…

Vegas

Khem is in Vegas today. I really hope the tour does not stop there. And for Florida, someone from Florida said the visit did not go all that well. Just get Khem to visit and i think he will be a Zag.

Go Zags !!!!
