Quick poll,
I am curious as to what away uniform our fanbase prefers, the black or the blue?
Red
Even though you didn’t list it, I like those ones. Plus the old white ones were cool too. I liked the black a lot last year but am getting tired of them. Too bad we don’t have Oregon’s football budget and get new, weird uniforms each game.
Is the red jersey even an option anymore?
Haven’t seen them in at least a couple years
Few's rotations are still baffling
He took Hart and Bell out immediately after big plays by those two
Rob Sacre, If I were a senior....
and had any aspirations whatsoever of playing at the next level, I would be puttin on a show if the Lakers General Manager were in the house, and he is….but that’s apparently just me.
Nice effing play Few had set up to close the half, eh?!
Final 4 or Bust!!~
Sacre needs to be benched
I agree that he just needs to be benched til he figures something out. He can’t hold on to the ball! tho he does have second most points at the half…which isn’t saying much considering we only have 4 players who have scored…but Sacre looks lazy. At one point, he could have gotten a long rebound and he jogged until it went out…giving the ball back to LMU.
Howdy Hey!! Yeah...I noticed that too
It would help if he could start hitting 80% of his free throws again. Something is just not right..And the coaches are freakin me. Why would Few put Keita out on the floor in crunch time? Very strange.
Final 4 or Bust!!~
If he earns it, GREAT.
I will wonder why it took so long for him to get such a prolonged opportunity. Wait, Necessity is the mother of all invention. That’s it then, lol.
Final 4 or Bust!!~
Sacre hasn't had the emotional intensity he has all year
I think he is just as down on himself right now as we have been.
Keita providing a spark
Keita is looking good. Has great energy tonight – in all the right places…assists, layup…he is doing all the right things right now. Good call by Few…nice to see him out of the dog house too!
Taping the second 1/2... I can't watch, lol
But, looking forward to enjoying it later. :o)
Final 4 or Bust!!~
Our free throw shooting is horrendous
That is the one thing that is really really upsetting me this game, and every game…50% is unacceptable. Especially for a team that gets to the line as much as we do.
Ok I peeked....up by 6 with 7 mins. I'll take it.
Free throw shooting was one of our strong points last season too, and that means we are capable, but under performing.
Final 4 or Bust!!~
Zags win a close one! I'll take it.
LMU is very athletic. Beat UCLA when ranked and St. Louis Billikens too. LMU always gives us trouble dwon there. Pangos had a crappy game and we hit like .143% from three, our shots were not falling, and we were still able to pull one out on the road!
I checked where we were at at this point going back 8 years after 17 games and here it is:
14-3 was our BEST start. 3 times, including this year.
13-4 three times
12-5 once
11-6 once
And we won the WCC every year! No worries.
Final 4 or Bust!!~
This is no suprise...
Coming off a loss to SM, confidence is down, and we all know that every team comes to play against us…LMU is a team that when playing well can beat anyone, same with San Fran.
I always laugh when ppl think we will fly through conference play with ease, not the case, im glad we pulled this game off on the road, hopefully they can gain some confidence back as they prepare for games in the Kennel next week.
Sacre looks absolutely lost, very dissapointing to have him play so badly, especially being the leader of this team, you can see it on his face…no fire!
JSH
whoops
someone how that got posted too soon. sorry.
We didn’t play great but to their credit, LMU played some tough D. I actually like what I saw from Keita tonight, but I’m surpised we didn’t see more Carter or Monninghoff
I knew this would happen
Freshman Guards making some less than grand plays. We were fortunate to win this one. Pangos, Bell and yes, Harris have all returned to earth. I gotta believe we will see more games like this in conference play. Remember folks, most WCC teams are more than ready to play GU. The question is, “Is GU ready for the WCC?”
There is still time for this team to gell and peak at the end of the season. That said, we have a very long way to go. Props to Loyola — played a good strong game.
mjc
Bell & Harris
I thought Bell and Harris both played very well. Bell with 16 and Harris with 19. Pangos had 9.
2-2 on the road
we’ve been.
St Mary’s has beaten SF, BYU & us, but the Gaels had all three games at home (they also have to face LMU twice).
they simply held serve.
St. Mary’s will have to play on the road now.
Gonzaga has BYU & SF on the road & home left.
St. Mary’s is not going undefeated in the WCC.
Gonzaga will beat them at the kennel.
Portland gave St. Mary's all it could handle last night at home in Moraga
Yes, I said Portland. Peaks and valleys is right, as {Mattzag72} said above!
We destroyed Portland at home by 40. St. Mary’s whips us by 21, yet struggles to get by lowly Portland at home (69-61).
Just reminds us that it’s a long season, and yes, if St. Mary’s can play like that vs Portland how will they fare on the road at… BYU or GU?
Final 4 or Bust!!~
ITS A WIN
Way to go Zags, Sacre looks more comfortable on the BENCH. And that would be a good place for him now.Smart move on putting in Keita, it would have been nice to see some glimpses of Mornghoff, also. Not for long just to see if i can produce as he did last week. Send Eddy back to the Junior college level, hes not worthy. He would make some good photo opps sitting next to Sacre .. Good win Go Zags
Edi is not worthy?
Let’s give the guy more of a chance before we run him out of town….He’s a talented, athletic juco who needs some time, like most do, to get up to D1 speed. He’s only had a few games to get caught up w/ the rest of the team who’ve been playing together for like 3 months.
I agree he is sucking right now….But, give it a lil more time, he will adjust.
Final 4 or Bust!!~
Sacre
Rob just hasn’t been himself the past 5-6 games. I wonder if it’s more than a sore thumb….is there something going on off the court in his personal life that has caused his lack of drive and focus?
You mean like being such a young father, or figuring out how to pay for child support,
or his injured knee? Thumb? Down on himself because he wants to be doing better? That kind of stuff? You might be on to something, lol.
But serously… Sacre is banged up. He can still play, just not at his usual level, yet.
Final 4 or Bust!!~
Rob has been surprisingly consistent,,, gradual, not dramatic, improvement..
first real funk, I have to believe his body is bugging him… and our freshmen will play like freshmen sometimes, especially against against cagey dudes like Delly.
I still love this season, but i am going more along with Mike S. eval,, 3-5 losses in confy play, closer to 3…we need the humility, and we’ll learn.
We keep hearing that this year's WCC Conf. will have 3 NCAA dancing teams.
Probably GU, BYU, SMC. Not sure what order. We need to just keep developing and be hitting all cylinders come March, by then we might have something special.
Final 4 or Bust!!~
More on Sacre from Jim Meehan:
“It was evident he was ready to go before the game. He was the only player on either team wearing his game jersey (no shooting shirt) and game shorts (no sweats) during the Star Spangled Banner.”
“He finished with eight points, six boards and a pair of blocks. He was in foul trouble most of the second half after picking up a couple of fouls that looked questionable, one away from the ball and another as he gathered an offensive rebound.”
"He was very active (against LMU)," Few said. "We had some talks and he had a good practice Friday night. We tried to get him back engaging. For whatever reason he kind of lost his way the last two weeks. We just want him getting back down there and engaging people in the post."
"He told me to be more aggressive," Sacre said. "The calls weren’t going my way tonight, but I’m not going to argue with that. We had to keep battling through and me being aggressive helped the team out. (Few) told me if I’m more aggressive, it’ll help the team out even if I’m not getting the ball."
Sacre was back in his role as the leader in the locker room, giving Pangos all kinds of grief for wanting to get a cat for a pet. (Sacre has two dogs, but he had no luck swaying Pangos’ decision."
Final 4 or Bust!!~
Oh heck yeah they are,
Just ask my pair of mini- Schnausers!
Although, they hide under the beds during Zag games, so what do they know.
Thinkin they like it best when I attend the games instead of sharing the love about refs, bad bounces, zero verticals, line ups, etc, etc.
Final 4 or Bust!!~
I have the most beautiful Mauxie, ,, (Dauschund Maltese mix),,an angel on earth!
and a chihuahua terrier mix who is a complete bitch!!!
Fatherhood
He bacame a father 3-4 months ago.
It is hard enough being a father when you are married and are planning for it. I respect his love for his child, Quinton, but my God, he sure made his life, the child’s life and the mothers’ life a lot harder than it needs to be. Knowing how his own life had some hardships by being the child of a single mom, I would have thought he would have been a little more careful.
The situation has to be somewhat on his mind right now, and I would have to think it would affect the psychology of any person in his situation.
I would hope that in the future the staff would bring Sacre and Heytvelt in and have some frank discussion with the players about where babies come from.
Really
And you know this is how he feels how?? I dont think its your place to judge his life now, and bring up his childhood…

Wow
Talk about passing judgement….I’ll go a little further than scotthen49 and say I KNOW it’s not your place to judge his current personal life nor his childhood.
Seriously???
No possible effect?
The thread was asking for opinions as to what might be going on in his head right now.
So, you are saying that there is no way, no possibility, no chance whatsoever that a 21 year old college athlete may be affected by having fatherhood be thrust upon him?
Leaving the morality out of this, do you not think a player owes some consideration to his team not to put himself into a situation that has a lot of complications that may affect his play?
Forgive me for being frank. You may think differently once you become a parent.
Speculation
there’s a difference between saying “he has some stuff in his personal life, that MIGHT be affecting his play” and saying what you said.
Do you know if he wanted to have a child or if it was as you are suggesting, an ‘accident.’ Cmon, unless you are in fact Rob Sacre, I don’t think you should be making assumptions with nothing to back it with. You also assume that raising a child as a single parent is only a bad thing, which is pretty a pretty critical judgement for not knowing anything about Rob’s family.
I never said that it isn’t messing with his head, I just don’t think anyone on this blog has any right to judge a player’s decisions regarding his family.
Maybe I am a parent...
I just feel like taking a shot at players that involves personal life stuff is not acceptable, especially bringing up the fact of how he was raised, not everyone grows up in the perfect enviornment, Rob is a great person… Lets keep this a basketball blog…

Analyze
Just for the record, the circumstances of his upbringing are a matter of public record in articles involving his father who was AD at Southern U when we played them last year. The unplanned nature of his parenthood are also a matter of public record discussing his plans with the mother in his tweets and comments in the Spokesman-Review.
If you want to get all holier than thou, then by all means let us shut down this blog so that nobody says anything other than how wonderful the world is.
Let us be adults here. Unplanned pregnancies happen for a whole host of reasons to students and the consequences are life-changing. You all know what the national stats say, and they are not pretty for single moms and their offspring. For Rob, I don’t think it is an incredible leap of logic to suggest that his circumstances must be very stressful on him. Suddenly his future in pro basketball is a matter that will affect not only him, but his child and the child’s mom. It could very well be a reason why his head seems to be in a funk lately.
Rob is indeed a great person with heart and a natural charisma towards others and especially kids with disabilities and other misfortunes. That is also a matter of public record.
If you think that his circumstances are no big deal, I would sure like to hear from some females whose lives were changed, or from some males who had to deal with the consequences of responsibility for a child.
Yes Counselor
If I ever have an issue mentally or seem to lose confidence I will contact you because you can tell me exactly whats going on…
your right this is a blog that is free of speech, I just disagreed with some of your comments, ppl disagree with eachoter all the time on here..
If you are ok with your comments than there is no need to try and justify it to me…

Maybe you might watch a replay
and say that. He worked his tail off last night and if you re-watch the game and focus on Rob this should become clearer to you.
It might help if he was getting clean entry passes.Over and over he kept gaining position and the passes either did not come, or were too late.
He had 2 very questionable calls go against him which forced him to back off on defense. He had a very good game considering he is not 100% and the bad calls, read his stat lines too while you’re at it.

could have 4 in the big dance
Gonzaga, BYU, & St. mary’s all win over 20 games, not fade the last 5-10 games of the regular season, finish 1-2-3 in the WCC regular season; and a 4th (LMU, USF) team win the WCC tourney… pac 12 is weak.
We will never get that much love
from the selection committee.
If we get three I will be amazed. Why put in a WCC team when you can stick in another big market eastern seaboard team.
