Good to see Pangos hit early...
Am worried how the frosh will respond.

Oh Mike
for every play where I cheer your hustle, you have one play that just makes me sigh
did anybody else notice
how long it took the saint mary’s crowd to realize that was an offensive foul? haha

Kinda like this Dower/Sacre/3 guard lineup
But I’m waiting for my Landry sighting
Was just typing the same thing
Worst game of his in a long time
Dower has to be careful with the fouls
We need him
I don't know
other than the travels Harris seems to be having his way!
Nice sequence there.
MORE EDI PLEASE. Don’t know why Quise and Spangler are suddenly above him on the rotation.
Man, what happened to Sacre?
He used to be so dominant. For God’s sake, he’s seven feet! Most NBA centers can’t claim that
Don't understand a lot of things about tonight so far
The zone defense, Few’s rotation, why we’re doubling on the screen leaving shooters open, why Rob has turned into Will Foster.
second half I want to see some D!
Defense & Dower!

Too many point blank misses for us, 7 or 8 so far?!
And it seems St. Mary’s is getting a ton of fortuitous bonces off the rim!
I am going to blow a head gasket.
Final 4 or Bust!!~
Rob looks timid and out of sync....
like his head is not in the game. Wonder why. Whole team looks somewhat out of sync…. we need someone to step up and fire up the team. SMC at home…..can be tough but we are MUCH better than this…..
I certainly thought Jones being in foul trouble would help.
If we could make, say, 1/2 our shots from 2 inches we would have a lead right now. And if St. Mary’s shots were not all going in after triple bounces off the rim? We would be comfortably ahead right now. KILL SOMETHING!
Final 4 or Bust!!~
Sloppy Play
Too many dumb shots, not playing defense, awful half.

We'll get rolling in the second half
We’re missing too many easy shots and are too talented not to. But I don’t like the defense so far, not fighting through screens enough, and while I don’t have the stats in front of me, it seems like we are getting out-rebounded as well.
Losing 19-16 on rebounds
But shooting 37% to their 46% on FGs and 50% to their 62% on FTs hurts worse
I seriously can't take another 1/2 like that
Seems like everything they are throwing up is bouncing in, and we can’t hit 2 inchers. Any chance we could transport a Turiaf in for Rob just this once?
Final 4 or Bust!!~
Ok, Rob. Let's try and have a better half, MmK?
The Slipper Still Fits - SB Nation's home for the Gonzaga Bulldogs!
Lets turn it around this half.
We can do this. Finish at the rim; defend the pick and roll; and dont let mouthpiece shoot. Plenty of time left.
Sitt'n on the dock a the Bay Wach'n the Ti..i...i....de roll away!
Why is everybody so surprised?
Not looking like its going to happen tonight.
Not the same defensive team we’ve seen. They seem so tentative. Sure wish Rob would gety out of his funk. Just don’t feel good about it tonight.
Another typical Zag year....
poor defense…no consistently good play from the bigs…..no boxing out down low….and a coach that has no idea what he’s doing….
HART is freaking horrible and has no business playing for a top 50 team!!!
He is killing us on both ends of the floor right now!!!
I think it's nice Few gives Hart a chance
But he is really bad on both ends of the floor. He shouldn’t be out there
"I'm sick and fuckn tired of losing to Purdue!"
that’s the best….imagine what he would do with our team!
A must
Have to make a run and make this competitive. Even if we don’t win we need to put that thought in their mind that we can outplay them. Very important!!!
Here we go again!
Where are our big men? Put the ball in the hoop!!!
Thank you, Mark Few
It took you 26 minutes to realize some pressure would be nice.

There are so many benefits to giving the ball to Elias and not Rob
The Slipper Still Fits - SB Nation's home for the Gonzaga Bulldogs!
why should they
Our bigs aren’t playing big at all

I'm sorry
But when you have Harris and Dower down low and we are not pounding it something is wrong. Rob is playing awful but not stuffing this ball in the paint is killing us. Running the weave near half court is not playing into our strengths.
I've always noticed how tentative our wing players are at getting the ball down low.....especially Carter, he's the worst.
but the bigs aren’t doing anything with it
That is the diffrence
Our guard play matches up. But we are not focusing on pounding the paint like we should. The biggest advantage we have is on the inside

D is just terrible, St. Mary's is scoring at will
I guess it helps when your players can make shots around the rim.
and the defense never moves their feet
we always play like panzys in the paint…once in a while someone’s got to step up and pull a Bynum and let them know Ill get thrown out of a game before I let you own me in the paint
Haha, that's great
seeing Sacre do his best Bynum impression would make me smile

finesse
I gotta give Gaels credit. They are out finessing us around the rim. Nice reverses and put backs. We can’t hit the side of a barn right now.

spacing
our positioning is just awful

Maybe a blessing in disguise as I see it....
instead of getting that shitty 4/5 seed, this will mean we get the much better 6/7 seed….which I’m all for.
Typical...
I bet Waldow doesn’t score more than 8 points against any other team for the season.
by derek_cheney on Jan 12, 2012 9:41 PM PST via mobile reply actions
Really?
A freshman big (still with babyfat) is killing us inside with his effort.
This is why I dislike Few as a coach...
we are down big with barely any time remaining, and he’s still telling the team to run their play and work it until they get a good luck…..the game’s freaking over coach, tell your guards to set screens and jack it up and have your bigs ready to rebound.
killed us in 2nd round, just jealously

There's only enough room in my life for one uber-religious virgin athlete
And his name is Tim Tebow.
Bad Loss?
If we beat SMC in the Kennel, will it be by this amount or will it be close?
True, but...
Competitors never give up and take this kind of beatdown personally.
Where is the competitive fire?
We just don’t seemed pissed when we are getting our a**es kicked, or am I seeing it wrong?
Well, I'm calling it a night
before the SMC fans come on here and I say something I’ll regret. Still a long season in front of us, it’s important to see how we respond as a team.
It was Dellavedova’s night, but even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile. Go Zags!
that's kind of a dickish thing to say
right after we lose by over 20

Campus is still pretty empty BUT THE DRINKING HAS BEGUN. SO HARD.
"Gonzaga knows how to party...Jesu-WHAT!"
Well one team came to play and it weren't the Zags
They played like it was the first big game of their lives – sheesh!
Wow
A hard-fought loss on an opponent’s home court is nothing to worry about, but tonight is an example of the maddening aspects of our Zags of the last few years.
I hate to day it but
only Pangos and E showed up
Sad game. Let’s hope we give it to them in the Kennel. Lets hope BYU gets them at home…..
Sorry to say it but...
As of now SM seems to look like the class of the league. Bell played like a frosh tonight. Like somebody told him how important this game was. Looked very tentative. Rob & Sam??? Can’t explain them. But I didn’t see the same defense tonight. Few f***ed with the defense too much tonight and we paid for it. They looked lost on the high pick and roll. We can survive this though. SM will get two loses I’m confident. But we lost any wiggle room we had. We may need to run the table now.
Harris worse than his numbers
Normally 17 points and 11 boards would be a respectable game, but Harris’ D tonight was just atrocious—he provided zero interior defense. The layups and put backs were there in abundance with Harris either flailing his arms or just standing there like dead wood.
like I said...
team looked lost on defense tonight. Don’t know what Few tried to do to tweek the D but he had them all out of sorts. Odd since we’d been playing such good D. Don’t get it.
Front Court
with the exception of Harris, Zag’s got schooled by a freshman, there’s Waldo. Career night against the Zag’s. How many times has this happened. The five year senior has all but disappeared, for the Zags.
