ELOISMS- And a Trip Down Memory Lane

With the announcement today that we have a new broadcasting crew for televised Zag basketball games, perhaps this would be a good time to take a trip down memory lane regarding posts & comments about, and from, Craig Ehlo.

First off, I wish Craig Ehlo much success at his new job coaching the EWU Eagles basketball team. He seems like a pretty decent guy, a family man, a great ex- Wazzo baskeball player who also made money playing in the NBA. It is not my intention of beating him down too much, it’s meant to be kind of fun {maybe not so much for him}.

Looking back, it appears as a commentator he left much to be desired. Right or wrong, this seemed to be the opinion of a majority of commentors, and many members of SlipperStillFits let him have it.

Let’s take a look back at some comments:

Gaz-tastic- "Ehlo struggles to put words to thought. It almost seems like he is having mini strokes. Not a very good attribute for a color commentator,huh?", "Ehlo gets lost in all of his discombobulating diatribes and nonsensicle speaklessness. There, I sound like Ehlo"

Zagshockey- "Last night he started talking about county fairs and how farmers probably use steroids to grow their huge pumpkins and then continued how they probably used steroids to carry their huge pumpkins"

Quidveritas- " I agree that Ehlo/Heister are unable to communicate the information they have prepared. I really like Ehlo personally. We have a basketball team that puts in a lot of work in preparation for every game. Wish our announcers would do the same"

SoundPound- "Ehlo and Heister suck, they may be good guys in person, but they suck horribly at their jobs and should not get paid. For being homers I think they try to talk up the other teams too much. If we get behind a bad team, they start to rationalize it when they should show disappointment in our play"

MikeSequim- "Hard to tell where Ehlo ends and Heister begins, lol! Geesh, what boneheads…….but they’re ours!"

Teacher56- "Ehlos Legacy to me will not be how he was as a player but how he has been allow to spew his stupid wisdom at televised Zag games"

Slim2ski- "people would rather stick their tongues on a 9 volt battery than listen to them"

Zagnificant- "Can we trade Heister/Ehlo for half of Gus Johnson?"

Zagsfanatic- "How is KHQ ever going to replace him?!? I would suggest that the search should start at Eastern State Hospital in Medical Lake. There is no way that a sane person will bring the same level of incoherence that we have grown accustomed to with Ehlo"

Hoft- "If you were forced to drink a shot every time he said something incoherant, nonsensical, or generally moronic, you wouild be blind drunk by halftime"

Zach- "Being a homer is one thing but I just can’t stand broadcasts where there is really no meaningful insight", " I don’t know what’s worse GoZags.com or Ehlo/Heister. They’re a match made in heaven"

Fraylo- "Ehlo’s mouth can’t keep up with his mind. Everytime he talks, he just rambles and rambles and forgets the point he was trying to make"

And now, some classic Ehloisms:

Ehlo: "Not exactly Shakespeare? As to shake a spear? You callin me a spear chucker?"

Ehlo: "You come in wide eyed, open to anything, and leave, well rounded"

Ehlo: "He prolly could make him self dissapear at 10,000 feet…the great disappearing Zag"

Ehlo: "Sacre changed his number to 00 because when the girls walk by they go ohhhhhhh"

Ehlo: "If you're a shooting good 3pt shooting team, then you'll got to take that err shot to give your a chance"

Ehlo: "You a mastodons fan? Yeah, big mammoth Ice Age kind of guy?"

Ehlo: "Sacre is 6’9 tall, but 8’ wide on defense"

Ehlo: "I've been dying to ask Kelly what razor he uses. He's so peace fuzz, he's got no whiskers on that face."

Ehlo: "The mark of a good team is that you'll find a guy who scores all the points."

Ehlo: "Watch his game face, the face that he puts on every game. He's got a pretty smile"

Ehlo: "He is a dunce cause his brain cells are dead from the Spokane cold"

Ehlo: "He's instant offense, he's like a microwave!"

Ehlo: "If you practice swimming all day up stream and then swim downstream. You will go so much faster"

Ehlo: Winning the WCC is gonna be a marshmallow cake walk"

Ehlo: "That is pretty ... He is pretty when he plays! So if you went there, I'll go there"

Ehlo: "in unison; by the hair of his chinny, chin chin"

Ehlo: "He rubbed his guy off"

Ehlo: "he... he hops into a stop" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

OK, speaking of stopping, I could go on forever…Anyone else have any Eloisms that need to be added? Please feel free to contribute. Hopefully, Mr. Ehlo has a good sense of humor! Like I said earlier, I wish him well in his new gig at EWU.
