Knock on Wood, Kelly Olynyk goes down at FIBA Game?
Kelly Olynyk apparently just went down playing for FIBA on the Canadian team a few mins ago.
This was tweeted minutes ago: "chrisdenkerChris Denker uh oh...RT @basketballbuzz: Kelly Olynyk (@BigKelz13) of Zags just went down lets hope it's nothing serious. #FIBA #Gonzaga"
Maybe the players should just stay home and mesh with their teammates instead of getting beat up playing on their prospective National Teams and risking injury? Or, does a chance to play with their National Team supercede all else?
Last year Elias Harris injured his shoulder playing for his German National Team and it bothered him all year. He could not work out, gained weight, and was not as effective. Now maybe KO goes down....Like I said, not sure of the extent yet but it is concerning.
Let's hope he is all right and it's nothing serious.

UPDATE:
I found THIS-
“Game Notes
Kelly Onlynk only played 21 seconds and injured what appeared to be his left knee in the first-quarter of the game and didn’t return. He was knocked down by his own teammate after a charge call on a French player.”
Hopefully it is a simple sprain….fingers crossed!

Not sure what to make of this, but definatley do not like it ...
Just checked KO’s Twitter and he recently posted this:
BigKelz13 Kelly Olynyk “Dont take anything in life for granted… because when you cant play is when you are gunna want to the most #guaranteed #liveforthemoment” This was from 15 hours ago.
The mystery surrounding his early departure from the recent FIBA game continues as I could not glean any info from Pangos or Sacre either. They knew as much as I did…which is diddly nothing.
This post by Kelly could mean several things; don’t take things for granted, he is injured, or he has suffered a career ending injury, or, or.
One thing is for certain…we WILL get to the bottom of it soon enough. I just wish it was sooner rather than later. And of course, I hope to h*ll he is OK.

Well they are certainly keeping this under wraps
All I could find is that they were not announcing the nature of the injury because they were ‘protecting the player’.
As of now, they have not replaced him on the Team Canada roster . . . so I guess that is encouraging.

Penetrating the mothership for info
at GU is nearly impossible. Now, if only we had a cloaking device…….

Another update
This is just after Canada’s FIBA overtime win vs Czech Republic
“Game Notes: Gonzaga’s Kelly Onlynk missed his third straight-game after going down against France”.

Be careful what you wish for
You might get it.
I think KO would be a very key player this year. Be a shame if he isn’t 100T%

Sammy D tweeted about KO making it to the airport today in Spo
and KO, apparently via his twitter was at SEA TAC getting a burrito at Q Doba….Nothing said about a wheel chair, crutches, stretcher, lol. Perhaps he’s gonna be just fine.
For the record, I am not in the camp wishing for a red shirt for KO this season. I’d kinda like the cupboards to be full.
Legooooo Zags!

he should have stayed at home
Practically all agree to that. Working with his teammates all summer could have given him the confidence to shed his deer in the headlights persona. Now, let’s just hope it isn’t serious.
and...
if he blew his knee out during scrimmages at GU everyone would have said he should have been playing with Canada…
Injuries happen. I’m sure KO will be ready for the season.
Sure,
injuries can happen anywhere. Maybe it is a lil more physical playing for the Canadian team in FIBA though vs a scrimmage, and perhaps your chances of injury are slightly higher? Just a thought.
As far as KO being “ready for the season”, until I hear an update on his injury I personally wouldn’t be so bold to make such a statement.
