Virginia Tech has offered scholarships to Montrose Christian forward Michael Carrera and center Kevin Larsen, Mustangs Coach Stu Vetter said Thursday. Both players are rising seniors.

Carrera, a 6-foot-6 forward from Venezuela, emerged as a standout this past season, developing a scoring touch around the basket while gaining notice for his energy level and work ethic.

He also has scholarship offers from Richmond and Gonzaga, Vetter said.

Larsen, a 6-9 center from Denmark, played sparingly most of the season but was splendid as Montrose won the National High School Invitational at season’s end. Gonzaga also has offered Larsen, Vetter said.
