Ryan Spangler named Oklahoma's Gatorade Player of the Year

Stay connected for news and updates
This wonderful bit of news just came across the Twitter wire this NCAA Tournament morning.  Congrats to 2011 Gonzaga signee Ryan Spangler for this tremendous honor.  Spangler aveaged 30 points,17 boards, six blocks, and nearly five assists a game this past season for Bridge Creek.  Most recent winners of this award include Tyler Neal (Oklahoma) and Xavier Henry (formerly of Kansas, now in the NBA)

Ryan adds another award to the already crowded shelf that is the 2011 class for Mark Few and Gonzaga.  Gary Bell Jr. was recently named Washington's Mr. Basketball, Chris Sarbaugh was named the Seattle Times player of the year, Kyle Dranginis has a state POY award, and Kevin Pangos is one of the more lauded Canadians to come to the states in recent memory.  These awards don't mean NCAA success but it is great to see these kids playing at a very high level.
