Around SBN: Seahawks Trade for TE Kellen Winslow

Last minute shots

hey all, I'm new to the boards and dont know if this has been discussed, but ill throw it out there so sorry if its a repost. this team is the worst team i have ever seen when we have the ball with the shot clock off either to end the first half or possibly win or tie the game at the end. every time we are down to this situation i pretty much know they are going to cough the ball up like what happened against memphis or force a horrible shot. i honestly dont remember being comfrotable in these situatins since the days of morrison, forgetting the last ucla shot, stepp and dickau. i honestly believe that steven gray is one of the most inconsistent players to come thru this team. some games he can miss like the loss to davidson where he hit 6 from behind the arc and some guys its like he isnt even on the court. it really makes one wonder if he really even cares about bball or is just thinking of what play he will star in next. it will be nice to have bell jr next year bc at least there could be some comfort in the ball goin to his hands with no time left and he also could free up harris or scare even more due to his consistency behind the arc. also, did arop do anything to get on fews bad side bc i honestly thought he'd have more mins this season then he does. he's a great athlete and has a nose for the ball off the boards and can usually get to the rack pretty easily. any thoughts?

Honestly, I think it’s been a problem for years, and I don’t think it’s the fault of any one player. No, the standard GU end-of-half/end-of-game play (give the ball to one guy and iso him) is so predictable that even know-nothing fans like me joke about it. And if I’m seeing it, the defense surely saw it in film a billion times.

We were spoiled

last second plays are very difficult, and we used to make them look easy.

Remember Dickau????

The last real money player we had, that is the ice-water vein type that can hit a three at the buzzer, was Adam Morrison. Remember the Oklahoma State game in Key Arena?
He was preceded by Dan Dickau—remember the three as time expired against St. Joe’s.
Those panic-free shooters—ie., like Kobe Bryant, etc.—are rare, very rare. The choke is a more likely scenario. Look at Manny Arop, skilled except at clutch time, beads of sweat and panic dripping down his face, as he steps to the free throw line and blows five of six shots at clutch time against USF. The Manny Arops are far more prevalent than the rare
Mr. Clutch.

gary bell jr

can’t wait to have this kid behind the arc with 3 seconds left. honestly, steven gray is a joke unless hes playing lesser competition and meetch is a huge disappointment. you cant deny hes a beast on the defensive end but after three years he still gotten any better in his shooting, except hes a little better than the 50% from the charity stripe like last season. these two players are a huge bust. i know meech was a espn 100 prospect, but i cant remember if gray was.

why the zags lose

Here are some appalling stats to consider: none of our inside men or the guys we depend on to board have a favorable assist to turnover ratio, suggesting big time sloppiness and an inability to field passes directing at them.
Sacre has 30 assists and 52 TOs.
Harris, 24 assists, 43 turnovers.
Kelly 22 assists and 34 TOs.
Dower, 10 assists and 16 TOs.
Arop, 14 assists and 24 TOs.
Monninghoff 7 assists, 8 TOs. Sorry but this is a prescription for losing—and i’m not even including the many deficiencies in guard play.
