A primer on advanced statistics (Efficiency, Pace, eFG%)

 

Required reading for anyone interested in furthering their understanding of basketball (both NBA and college):

These “advanced” stats are grounded in solid basketball theory, not in abstract mathematics. It's worth keeping in mind that some advanced statistics are invented by analysts who played professional or collegiate ball and wanted to improve the way we look at the game.

Note, we're 36th worst in the country in % of points given up by 3 ptr.  #277 in the country in allowed 3 pt fg %.  And while we have pretty decent offensive/defensive efficiency numbers, still trail SMC in offensive efficiency.
