San Fransico, Gonzaga's stumbling block?
For the past two years, S.F. has beaten Gonzaga in overtime at S.F. This year San Francisco is 5-1 to start. Out of the six games San Francisco has played this year, three of the games have been decided by a total of five points with San Francisco coming out on top each time. While there is something to be said about the level of competition S.F. is playing, winning close games consistently is by itself impressive. Besides the serious contenders for the WCC crown, BYU and St. Mary's, Gonzaga needs to be aware of SF's ability to hang around. Conference play is a while off yet, but with the game tomorrow Gonzaga should particularly emphasize as a team playing mistake free in the final minutes something that did not happen in the game against WSU. The season is about to pick up for Gonzaga and finishing out games now will be critical to success in conference and March. As far a individual focus, what should the starting line-up be and who needs to focus on developing what?

USF is 5-1?
They haven’t even played anyone! They have caught us down there twice, both as a result of sluggish play and terribly one-sided officiating. USF got a continuation call last year to give them the game, and the year before USF had an OBVIOUS goal tend that the refs saw (you could see them both double take) and didn’t call. Were the games fixed by the WCC? Probably. But they have been building a roster that finally consists of multiple D1 talents and they finally have something to play for in the WCC, so a road game against them should always be taken very seriously.
SMC won’t be worried about USF’s ability to hang around when USF is winning by 20 in Moraga. USF has been a stumbling block for us, but with fair officiating we would have won both of those games.
Welcome to the Sound Pound...
SF? What the....?
Are you talking about the same USF team that struggled to beat a selfish, discombobulated Seattle University team by just six points, 69-63? Seattle’s lineup included eight newcomers, none of whom seemed to have a clue about what the term team play means.
The "sleeper" in the league is Santa Clara not San Fran.
I went to the SF game when they played at Seattle U. They didn’t look great.
But hey, I root for WCC teams non-conference. So I’m glad the Dons are winning and hope they win the Great Alaska Shootout.
I agree
Watch out for Santa Clara. Foster and Roguemore combined for 52 pts and 9 assists against New Mexico (W) and 46 pts with 13 assists against Oklahoma (L). They are playing very well together. We all know that coach Kerry Keating has it out for us too.
Yaaaaaa
usf lost to NDSU, Murray State and New Mexico. They beat Seattle U, UL-Lafayette and Dartmouth. Not quite shaking in my bouts. We’ll see how SCU does against Villanova today.
