Watching Zags Online

Like many others who frequent this site, I am extremely excited for the upcoming season.  I was wondering if anyone can give advice on the best options for watching Gonzaga games live on the Internet.  I live in Seattle and don't subscribe to cable television (not an option for me.)  In the past I have occasionally used illegal streams to watch games, but they are often poor quality and very unreliable.  I noticed that there is a Zags Sports Channel which charges around $10 a month or $80 for a year but it looks like most of the men's games are audio only.  I also know that ESPNU is an option although I have never used it before and only a portion of the games will be on ESPN.  Ideally I would like to watch every game without spending a fortune.  Any advice is greatly appreciated.  Go Zags!

I feel your pain

I live in Texas and if it is not a nationwide broadcast I can not watch. I have comcast with every channel they offer and unfortunately they have no idea what root sports is. I would gladly pay for the Gonzaga streaming channel if it was worth a crap, but like you said, mainly audio. Fortunately, the Gonzaga faithful on this site have rarely let me down with an active stream somewhere. Generally not the best quality in the world but I am thrilled none the less that I can participate in the excitement from Texas. Check on the site prior to the game and see if anyone posts a link. That is what I do and 98% of the time one of your fellow fans will help you out. Great community here.

100%

I been living in New Zealand for the last 2 years and have relied heavily on this site to find me a way to watch Gonzaga live. I’ve looked into every online option possible, but it seems no one really seems to have the right package. They need to have a regional sports program all year round or something like that, where you can buy all the College Sports for the state of WA or something along those lines.

BYU TV is what we need...

Call it ZAG TV.

There is something called “Slingbox” though. It costs 99.00 for the adapter {box}. You hook it to your box at home and use it to watch what you are paying for anywhere in the world. Dish looks at it like, hey, if you pay for it….why not let you use it anywhere.

Google : SLINGBOX

If you have a freind that has the programming….hook it up at their house. They still get to watch whatever they want, and you can watch what you want, from anywhere. Pretty wild.

I’ll check this out, being over seas GU games are the most important thing I’m missing but not the only thing.

All you need is to know anyone who already gets the channels airing the Zag games.

Pay for a slingbox, I heard they run specials for 79.00…your freind plugs it in, sends you the code. You get their programming!

The way I am familiar with is though Dish Network, but there are other brands on the market that work with other programming providers.

Good luck!

Justin.tv

There is usually a link on there for a game. I will search for one once the game starts as I am in the Bay Area and will not get the game on Direct TV. Check the game thread and usually one or two links get posted. GO ZAGS!!

I used Justin.tv when I lived in Portland. Since I couldn’t go to the bar then I had to rely on streaming and Justin.tv was a great source, probably saw every game on there. Even the ones that were just broadcast on KHQ or Fox.

Call Directv

And tell them you have been with them for a long time and you would like a deal on the Fox Sports package. They do it for me every year 7.99 a month. Also on Gu Boards i saw a justin tv link for the game tonight. hope that helps. I am going to a bar tonight to watch the game in Temecula Ca.

Dish network

I have the dish 250 package, and it includes root sports

Same here.....

But these guys commenting above either don’t have the money, or they are located in areas where that package does not receive it. I think, lol.

Used to be a couple times a year I had to pay extra and add ESPNU and then cancel it when a few of the games were played on that channel, Thankfully, they now include ESPNU in Dish 250.

I have been a customer for a long time. When they throw out all these special offers, discounts and free pay channels for “new customers”…I call up and gripe. They give me some goodies to keep me happy, lol. Seriously though, Why shouldn’t I get some kind of deal? So, I do. :o)

This thread should have a link, provided with added discussion about the streams. Hope this helps.
