Zags, 'Pokes to do battle on New Years Eve

It has been announced that Gonzaga will be takiing on Oklahoma State next season in Spokane for a New Years Eve clash.  The Cowboys are led by head coach Travis Ford and have lost to Gonzaga three times in the past ten years.  Most notably were the Bulldogs two wins over Oklahoma State in 2004 and 2005.  The '04 game was a big upset and was the first time JP Batista really stepped up and delivered as a Bulldog and the '05 game should bring chills to every single Gonzaga fan.

Sounds Great

I hope we get another “Stay thirsty my friends” comment by Sacre. That was one of the best lines I’ve ever heard in an interview. Sacre, you the man!

Also on a bigger note, this is the 2nd year in a row that the Zags have started up a home and home series with a “Major conference” team and gotten the first home game. Last year it was WF this year OK St. They also have Xavier coming here next year to start that series. I think this speaks volumes of where Gonzaga stands as a basketball powerhouse! Go Zags, get bigger, get better!

and at second look...

that is a quick turnaround to got east and play WF in NC on Jan 2. I hope there wont be any jet lag for the young Zags!

Contratulations to the GU staff

Yet another great game on the schedule.

As much as I appreciate the efforts of the players, I appreciate the efforts of the folks that put the schedule together just as much.

Too bad we have another "big" game during winter break

Great to see GU bringing programs from major conferences on campus

These winter break games

against higher profile programs are just ice breakers, imo. Big schools don’t typically want to face a GU type team in an arena with 6k seats unless there is something else in it for them. In this case, that is additional TV exposure and a chance to boost their SOS and RPI.

As long as these series (winter break) continue to go well, GU will continue to increase its chances of landing high profile games while the students are there.

Every school deals with games while students are away from campus, ours just happen to be the bigger games on our schedule… for now.

This schedule may be the best we ever had. Like Coach Few said before " we dont need the UW Huskies" And like i said “we need Wiltjer in 2011” = )
