I didn't think I'd be nervous for this one

just because they are a one-seed but we’ve got a great chance if we just show up.

Tired Of Seeing.

Our teams not be able to stop the 3 ball. It’s really annoying that they can go about 50% from threes and Few does NOTHING to adjust the defense. That Riley kid inside has messed up multiple times… I hate to agree with the crappy announcers… but EXTEND the D!

Ridnour was close

In the state Tournament in 1999 in Yakima, I talked to Ridnour and he was a Zags fan then, but he became good friends with Jackson playing Summer ball and the two wanted to be teammates, Few didn’t have the schollies for both (Because we had already recieved committment from Stepp and there was only one other spot)

2nd half

Syracuse is living by the long ball. They only had like 6 buckets from inside the free throw line. Syracuse is gonna go cold, we just have to keep it close so we can strike when they do.

by rappell40 on Mar 21, 2010 10:10 AM PDT reply actions

jeeez .. i have to rant

First thing i would shave all the teams head as soon as the regular season begins and stop them from doing the pretty boy thang .. get them to feeling ‘raw’.

Then i would have Coach Few go to a good therapist and get some counseling on self image because when he gets to feeling the fear .. he infects the whole team with it.

by abarefootboy on Mar 21, 2010 10:13 AM PDT reply actions

We just really need to stop shooting the three ball…I’d rather have 2 points than 0 every possesion, and stop the horribly sloppy passes directly into Cuse’s hand…inexcusable! And I’m tired of missing damn free throws…they are FREE let’s make them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Slipper Still Fits - SB Nation's home for the Gonzaga Bulldogs!

by Zach Bell on Mar 21, 2010 10:15 AM PDT reply actions

I'm confused.

Did the Zags decide half way through the first half that the announcers were right and they would have to shoot threes to have any chance vs the zone? Its NOT true, we were dominating the Zone! Sacre and Harris were tearing it apart!!! Next thing I know Meech is throwing up threes like we are down 20 with 5 to play…. Get with the program Zags. Im no player, but we can do this. Their threes will cool off, we just need to score at a high percentage inside like we were. C’mon Zags, I know you can do this. Syracuse DOES NOT look worlds better than us. They are just playing smarter (and a little hotter) right now.

by Ekrub on Mar 21, 2010 10:17 AM PDT reply actions   2 recs

It happened when Rob got his 2nd and was pulled.

Kelly couldn’t establish position inside and the guys started jacking 3’s.

Then they got further behind and felt like they had to jack 3’s to catch up.

by MedZag on Mar 21, 2010 10:18 AM PDT up reply actions

Whoever said the only way that we have a chance is to foul out their big men is not right…. We have a distinct advantage down low already and the way that you make an upset/comeback at this point is that you need to hit your jumpshots and foul shots when you get the chances. Matty B has to start hitting some big shots and step up along with Gray. Also maybe a little defense… 47 points?!!?!!? We can keep feeding the post, but fouling out their big men shouldnt be our main goal for a comeback/upset chance.

Hard to argue.

Well, they are hot right now.

Playing lights out. I don’t know much about Baylor. How is the match up? Can they quiet Samhan?

Is big. They will give him fits all night.

Would beat Cuse if they are shooting like this. Absolutely no doubt in my mind that if they keep this up… national champions.

Well, I was wrong

I guarantee you they don’t shoot this hot uncontested in practice. This is just surreal. Well, there is always next year :)

"There's always next year!"

Pretty much my motto when it comes to my favorite teams. Its what happens when you’re from Washington.

Heres to Rebuilding Next year, we will be looking for a new Coach,

I have a Feeling that Few is going home to Oregon,, If so then I hope that we get someone with some balls

by Travis_S on Mar 21, 2010 10:43 AM PDT reply actions

I hope Few stays

But we’ve definitely plateaued under him. Is he capable of taking us to the next level? Is anyone capable of taking this program to the next level?

I see zero so far,,, I don’t understand this. This webiste always talks about skipping this years class to go after that greener pasture in 2011, but why do anything now, when you can do it in the future?

We're looking at juco guards

No one signed yet. i expect one more transfer so we’ll use one this year and have three in ’11

Lets make this respectable

We will lose this game. Yes, we all know. Lets make it look respectable and fight hard till the end. This team came in with very little expectations. Syracuse is playing out of their minds. Lets show the country we can still compete and how good we will be next year. GO ZAGS!!

by Ekrub on Mar 21, 2010 10:54 AM PDT reply actions

Not bad

Considering how everyone else’s looks. My final four is still in tact: Duke, Ohio State, WV, and Duke. (Ohio state over WV in the championship). about half the people in my pool picked KU to win it all, so I have a shot at this point.

But in typical fashion was hampered by fouls and they just stopped feeding him.

I have balls

Just frustrated with the way the game went, not meant to get people fired up over it. See you all next year.

(I have been reading and viewing this blog for a couple years and like the way this site gives me news on Gonzaga Basketball, just thought I would start to contribute my own thoughts, this thread is a hundred times better than the GUboards)

by Travis_S on Mar 21, 2010 11:21 AM PDT up reply actions

Another positive.

I’d rather deal with this than losing a close one at the buzzer.

by zeeehjee on Mar 21, 2010 11:07 AM PDT reply actions

Ok, seriously.

If Foster gets frozen out of this whole game, I’m not going to be able to forgive Mark Few. Having a doghouse is one thing. Putting guys in it all the time is another.

Probably so

So, a question...

I’m done with the Few hate. It’s totally unproductive, so I’ll be hypothetical instead.

Is there a world wherein Grant Gibbs stays at GU next year? Why would he want to keep putting up with this doghouse/getting-yanked-around garbage?

I'd love it if he stays

But I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if we want an elite program we’re going to have to live with good/likable players leaving the program.

GJ looked good today

Played with heart, had a couple steals, went after the ball…made a few points, I was happy with his performance,ha i guess that’s a positive.
